![]() Most classes that offer party healing in some form also have some sort of extra spell-less resource to manage, and bards are no exception. Instead of have a lot of strike-through text, the text has instead been removed.) ![]() This is just another reminder that I am imperfect and that it is important to share your impressions with others to see if they are experiencing the same things. (NOTE: despite my testing, if you read the initial comments to this post, this section used to have some inaccurate information - feel free to check here to see what this formerly had, the entire post was copied/pasted from reddit as it was. This is a feature that is useful, but you won't build a party around a feature like this one. This does stack if you have multiple bards in your party.Īs I have mentioned elsewhere, short-resting to heal is primarily an earlygame feature - as when you reach the lategame in both main campaigns, there is plenty of gold and/or crafting available to obtain health potions when needed. Whenever your party takes a short rest, any ally that uses any hit dice to heal also gain an additional 1d6 HP to their healing. Song of Rest is a feature that technically exists for the bard, but isn't that great honestly. Even so, Bards are like rogues that have a lot of skills - but also happen to be a full-casting class, so are immensely more flexible in their combat approach vs rogues. However, most other important checks in Solasta aren't combat-based (or the check in question is good enough to want proficiency in it), so I just do not value them highly here. Many other classes have to invest in feats or specific subclass choices to get an initiative boost (Kindred Spirit Druid - Eagle for example), but all bards get this boost by default at level 2 without any stat tied to it.ĭoes jack-of-all-trades help in other checks as well? Yes. Even minor +1 or +2 boosts to initiative can make a huge difference in combat - which is why they are so rarely found in feats & class/subclass features. Yep, bards get a passive initiative boost at level 2 that scales with their character level. Getting half your proficiency bonus to all checks in the game you aren't proficient doesn't sound exciting here, until you realize that initiative rolls are checks. Jack-of-all-trades is likely one of the most powerful aspects of bards many players overlook, especially in Solasta's setting where skills matter much less. Mechanical aspects related to the Unfinished Business mod's options & subclasses will be reserved for that specific post later on. Today's post will dive into some of the mechanics unique to the bard class in Solasta - covering jack-of-all-trades, song of rest, bardic inspiration, countercharm & magical secrets. ![]() This ongoing series will help to provide that for you, from the framework of one imperfect guy on the internet doing this for fun! With every SRD class officially in the game ( and after a little bit of a break on my part), it is time to properly go into deep dives on classes & character concepts. ![]() ![]() Solasta has a huge emphasis on tactical combat, with a loyal & passionate modding community all about pushing the limits of a creative & challenging adventure within the D&D 5e framework. ![]()
